Last week was awfully quiet, in terms of players to picks ratio. We are starting to be concerned about the lack of participation. However, we do have stories to talk about, because there are winners of the week.
Title Inspiration: adterry coming in with a clutch Finding Nemo reference. Havana was a location of player interest, recently.
SwagWxChicago Shows Swagger
This week was full of season high weekly scores. However, only one person stood out among the rest: SwagWxChicago. This week was a big one from him, because he used high scores to guarantee his victory over 80 points over Central_Oh_Wx and Dry_7ine. 29 players met criteria.
At least the Top 10 scored a 500 average, over the course of the week. For the first time, daughter beat father in this format: doctorCrab had a more consistent average week, by 15 pts over BustCityKing.
Honey, I Think We Broke The Game
On Tuesday, a day unlike anything we have seen occurred. How do we break it down? Well, I can try with this method.
ClevelandWx won the raw score battle, with Bangor, ME. This would have been the winning move.
9 people took Death Valley: AndrewElswickWx, Central_Illinois_Wx, CHSStormTracker, Dry_7ine, JKP_Weather, JRN785, Ronald Martinez, SEMichigan_WX, & SynopticScale2023. They had a raw score of 208.
Toastal Plain decided to do his, under the radar, nonconformity style with Swainsboro. They has 211 points.
Warning bonuses screwed over ClevelandWx. Although he had 2, it was just enough to get 220.
Toastal Plain got 12 bonus points, to get to 223, off of severe weather.
The 9 with Death Valley had the automatic 15 points off of heat bonuses. That got to 223.
Not only 10 people win the day, a Weather Warrior record, it is also the first time EVER that two locations had a co-victory. There was almost an instance last season, but that was a what-if game. This came off of just happenstance with a bonus.
Cabo San Lucas: More Than A Toby Keith Song
Two days this week saw Cabo kick some Weather Warrior hiney! One score was good. Others were impressive. We've been on a streak lately, with 1,000 point scores. It's not a consecutive, but it seems like every other day gives us 1,000.
Bust City King started us off right, with a Wednesday win, and 435.60 points. There were about 10 more people that had it on the same lock, but didn't get the multiplier. This was one of the good stories.
However, Day 2 was even more action packed, and higher scoring. Dry_7ine & SDT took matters into their own hands, and gave us the 2nd highest score all-time in Weather Warrior: 1,418.20 points. You read that correctly! 1,418.20. Also, 3rd place had a tie that was shared by SS2023, Toastal Plain, BustCityKing, & J. Mike Sheard, and it also is the 3rd highest score. There were a lot more Cabo picks that also hit 1,000. It was a record setting day, in the 1,000 point category.
Acapulco Packs A Punch
Acapulco started off a career week for Central_Oh_Wx. Acapulco won Monday and kicked off a major week for him. This score was over 450 points, one of his best scores pre-Cabo Chaos. He used this to push his week towards a 2nd place finish.
"Guantanamo!"
Hey look, another 1,000 point day! RAMTurtle's first win came with a surprising bang! Guantanamo scoring the 4th highest score all-time, with over 1,170 points. This is the first Cuba win, but read more about a historic weekend south of Florida.
Where'd Amaponte Come From?
We almost thought amaponte almost saw her big moment come in the Challenger Round of 42. That didn't happen, but a plot twist of greater proportions happened, on Saturday, in the form of Aguadilla.
Just like a horror movie, there's usually a plot twist that stuns everyone. This horror movie hurricane scenario gave us a plot twist from the most popular spots, to the most unexpected. Aguadilla gave us a landslide victory over Ceiba & San Juan area picks (if you count Weekend League). This win was a shock, as no one expected Aguadilla to win. Everyone was high on San Juan, but it completely blew up in everyone's face.
Her first career win came as a shock, but in a good way.
Grand Cayman Chases Caribbean Victory
Lastly, we have to discuss the start of the Caribbean craziness: Grand Cayman's success.
No one truly saw Grand Cayman as a threat, as the Mexican vacation was kind of a big deal. Ronald Martinez used his magic to not only win the day, but give his second win for a new location. This win was a massive deal, as it became the first Caribbean win all-time. It started a 3 day streak.

Weekend League Power Rankings Heading Into Week 3
Most matches were predictable: Everyone looking for hurricane picks, which most won in straight sets. It was Day 3 between the Bulldogs & Dragons that made it more interesting. The Dragons won, but the Knights did manage to leapfrog into #1.
1. Knights (+1)
2. Bulldogs (-1)
3. Dragons (-)
4. Lions (-)
5. Cobras (-)
6. Tigers (-)
7. Hawks (-1)
8. Wolverines (-)
9. Dolphins (-2)
10. Gators (-)

Week 5's Cycle Update
Well, the early part of the new week is starting off well, with the algorithm. We're happy to announce Grand Isle will become a full-time location next season, after numerous picks and player interest! Galliano LA, Turin NY, and a few others are going to also be considered. Remember, pick a cycled location if you see it available!
Week 5 will get closer to fall weather, and we will start dreaming of snow picks. Maybe a few of these spots can be added next season.

The Last Word
Remember that when picking a spot in a hurricane, to not just pick because of the catastrophic impacts. You don't want to hope and pray for 2,000 points all because you want a Category 5 hurricane to hit to give maximum points.
Do not be that person. Think about the people's lives who are in danger, during Laura, as well as other storms in the future, and even in the past (Katrina, Andrew, etc.). Getting 1,000 points may seem cool, but it comes at the potential expense of someone losing power, their property, or even their life. Think about that when picking in hurricanes, down the line.
Wishing anyone in the impacts of Laura to stay safe.
